My mom and dad were awesome enough to volunteer to watch Cannon so we could take Charlie to the Western Idaho Fair. It is nice to plan special outings for just him. We didn't go until after Eric got home from work so the anticipation built up all day. Charlie kept saying that he just could not wait another minute to go.
We started by getting some dinner even though Charlie was sure that we should go straight for the treats. Next we hit the rides. Let me just say here that the fair is a complete rip-off and I will leave it at that. We would have been better off skipping the rides and playing games instead since that is all Charlie kept asking about, but we had already spent a small fortune on tickets (which were for rides only, not games) so we had to keep talking Charlie into going on more rides. He was too short for most of the intermediate kid rides, but was bored with the baby rides, so we just started sending him on the bigger rides and nobody said a thing about his height. He went on a mini-rollercoaster and you could tell it was right at his threshold. He loved it and was totally scared all at the same time. He also did great on the ferris wheel with daddy. Next we walked through the petting zoo which he was not a fan of. Lately he has been terrified of most animals so even though they were all in cages he was still convinced he was going to be eaten alive. It was starting to get dark so we took a stroll through the photo/art booths and grabbed a treat and called it a night.
